Head Lice - What It Is & How To Get Rid Of Them
Nobody wants to contend with the problem of head lice. Head lice are more commonly found on young children then adults and can spread like wildfire through schools. They leap from one person to another and lay their eggs in their hair while hiding in it.
When you get head lice, you will first notice that your scalp is really itchy. Sometimes you can feel things crawling in your hair. Your kids might be scratching their heads. Lice are very small insects that are hard to get rid of.
After it is discovered that your kid has head lice, you will need to learn how to get rid of lice. Unfortunately, this is not a simple job, but it must be done in short order. It is easy for the problem to become quite large. What is needed is to find the lice eggs, normally close to the skull. At first glance, they appear to be dead skin, but are not quickly removed with a brush.
You will have to methodically search through your child's hair one section at a time using a lice comb. A lice comb's very fine teeth make it easier to separate the strands of hair from each other. To begin with, you will have to brush all the hair to one side and comb back sections to thoroughly exposing the scalp.
You can kill a lot of eggs by using a specially-formulated shampoo which you can buy at most drug stores and discount houses. By following the directions on the label, you'll be able to help eliminate lice. Unfortunately, the shampoo only helps; it isn't the ultimate answer. You must still work to comb and pick the lice out if you want to get rid of them permanently.
One more vital step is to launder all bed sheets and linen. Likewise any hair care products or elastic headbands should also be thoroughly cleaned. You do not want to risk the chance of an infestation occurring again. Items that cannot be washed should be put in quarantine in the form of a plastic bag for one week. Although lice can be cumbersome to extinguish, they do not have the ability to live long without an available host.
Nobody wants head lice because they're such a massive problem to have to deal with. This problem mainly affects younger children and can spread rapidly through schools. By laying eggs and hiding in hair, they can jump quickly from one person to the next. After it is discovered that your kid has lice, you will need to learn how to get rid of lice. Unfortunately, this is not a simple job, but it must be done in short order. A lice comb can be used to separate your child's hair into small stands that can easily be searched for lice.
